Sanjiv Buttoo

Sanjiv Buttoo is a Senior Broadcast Journalist working for BBC News. He is the North of England Reporter for the BBC Asian Network. Sanjiv has worked for BBC Radio Leeds,[1] BBC Radio Lancashire, has been head of Asian Programmes for BBC North West and has worked for the BBC's Investigation Unit. Sanjiv has produced TV reports for BBC North West Tonight and BBC Look North.

Sanjiv has experience in researching, reporting, producing and presenting programmes, along with news features and documentaries. He has worked extensively in South Asia and has specialist knowledge of the region's politics, social affairs, religion and culture.

In 2000 Sanjiv was awarded Best UK Radio Journalist at the EMMA Awards.

In 2008 Sanjiv was awarded a prestigious Sony Radio Academy Gold Award for his news documentary feature "Britains Missing Girls" which uncovered the hidden practice of female foeticide in the United Kingdom by British born Asians.
